Job aid for creating an e-portfolio in
the KEEP Toolkit
Scott J. Warren
University of North Texas
1.
Start by conducting an analysis. What
are the topic, audience, and purpose for the e-portfolio?
2. Follow
this by doing a bit of non-digital design work. Start with a paper and pencil
layout of what you want it to include and possibly look like.
3. Get
feedback from someone and bulk up or cut down your proposed content.
4. Follow
this by creating a digital text document of what you think you can reasonably
create.
5. Finally, you get to the KEEP
toolkit. Go to http://www.cfkeep.org/ and
create an account.
6. Login to your account. Select
the KEEP toolkit on the left-hand side.
7. You will then see a screen for
your Dashboard, the main screen in KEEP.
8. Click on the button for
New portfolio.

9. Select the Blank Templates tab at the top (in blue below). Click on Òuse
template.Ó

10. Type in
a name (Example 2) for your Portfolio next to Save As and click Submit.

11. You
should now see the Example 2 portfolio file on your Dashboard.

12. Now it
is time to start adding to your Portfolio! Click on the Edit notebook image to
the right of your Example 2 Portfolio (to the right of Yes as well).

13. You
should now see a screen that looks like this:

14. Click
on Edit title to change the Title.

15. In the
new screen, change the title to read ÒExample 1Ó by deleting the existing title
and typing in your own. Make sure you click to center and bold the text as the
existing formatting goes away. Click Save.

16. It
should now look like this:

17. Click
on the Òedit boxÓ box.

18. Enter
the text you want in the box and click Save.

19. Click
on Òedit boxÓ again. At the top, you should see the Add/Edit Image tab. Click
on it and you will see the following screen.

Click
Browse and find an image that you want to upload. Select where you want the
image to appear. Click Save Image.
You will
then see your image similar to this:

20. You can
use the same process to embed video, by clicking on the Add/Edit Video tab. You
may add video directly from your computer or give it a link to a video on
YouTube or other video service. This process is the same whether you add it
here or in the Òedit linksÓ area. I suggest adding one of the following videos
from YouTube for fun:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8o5qDKX4WA
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqO7zEWu0W0

21. Once
you have Saved it, click close and it should appear on screen.

22.Now
click on edit links.

22. In this
screen, you can add web links to web sites that you want people to see. You can
add multiple web sites in this screen. It is the same process as with the Òedit
boxÓ directions above, so I wonÕt go into it any further.
23. At this
point, you should be able to go back to the Dashboard and click on the link to
Example 2 and see your Portfolio as it stands today. Make sure you also Publish
it when you are ready to get a link that can be reached publicly.
